The Lieutenant of Dol Guldur and why he rocks so hard

Of the 3 lieutenants, the boy from Dol Guldur is by far the best. He has the most unrestricted DI; he is a minion sage; he has a homesite you can start at (unlike angmar); he is immune to Golodhros (unlike morgul); he can drop into the mines under his haven to pick up aiglos (for 3 mps) and some cave-trolls -- all without going to a site where he can be hurt!

If you want to exploit him fully, here's an extra tip: have By the RW's word in your deck. When your ringer hits the table, have him put 5 cards into the discard pile, three of which are the troll bros (tom, bert, and willy), and 2 of which are whatever else you like (tribute garnered is nice for your second time around the block). Then sideboard over Back To the Fray, and play it whenever you draw into it. Now, since your rw is squatting, play bade to rule and while the yellow face sleeps as well to give you +2 hand size (1 from the Lt, one from yellowface... and one from hoarmurath if you're using him), +5 GI. In the meantime, have the lt influence in the haven orcs and throw a long greivous siege on them. Then, when you draw into the troll bros, drop all three of him under the Lt's DI in one turn! Those four are unstoppable! Have them grab aiglos and some cave trolls in the deeps if you like, or the blackbole at sarn goriwing (or Rhosgobel if your hero opponent is flabbergast... err.. radagast...).

Enjoy!

What about speed?

It sounds like fun Zara, but what about that nice trick vs speedy decks? Do you think it could be good?

Just wondering

Well, I've played a deck using this trick twice, and it's worked both times!

Still, havent played vs one of the most elite players yet....

Although Lt. of Dol Guldur is an excellent character, and his sage skill very important for overt companies, I still think that the best of the Lts. is the Lt. of Minas Morgul. He has the highest prowess along with that of Angmar, and his ranger skill makes him a very good character. Also, although the Lt. of Dol Guldur has more direct influence, all the lt. have the same influence against orcs, trolls and their factions, which are the ones that you are more likely to influence when you use one of the three lieutenants.

The Lieutenants of Dol Guldur and Minas Morgul are both great characters. They just have different uses.

Lieutenant of Dol Guldur Advantages:

 Home site is in a more useful area for most minion decks.
 Home site has an underdeeps site below it for the play of Aiglos, Dragon-helm, Cave-Trolls, and/or technology items.
 Sage skill is rare amongst minions.
 3 normal direct influence useful against non-orc/-troll characters and factions.

Lieutenant of Minas Morgul Advantages:

 8 Prowess -- highest of any non-ringwraith character.
 Ranger skill key against Rivers and for the use of Crept Along Cleverly.
 Is not nicknamed "the lame."

In sum, the go with Dol Guldur if you're going to be squatting or doing sneaky things in the underdeeps or need a sage. Go with Minas Morgul if you need a big ranger in a moving company. Or just go with both....

 Is a half-troll, and we all know how useful that is. I won't even mention all the possibilities here. :P

But the Lt. of D.G. is an Olog-Hai, which is perhaps even more useful than being a half-troll.

Also, he's got a really big friggin sword.
