Saruman with Spirit Rings

Post by Qapla » Tue Oct 06, 2009 1:25 pm

The key to this deck is to get the bright gold ring, the minor rings and the ring test to the discard pile with Saruman as soon as possible. Saruman can retrieve both the ring and the test. The ring is playable at Minas Tirith or Edoras (Minion sites). There are characters in the deck with these home sites to cancel the automatic attack. With secret book you can untap the site so it is possible to get more rings out of one site.

Suggestions:

Saruman will not get full MPs for the Warding Ring without Blind to All Else because the Warding Ring is an Armor item.  It may be better to try for one of the Dwarven Rings instead.

Regiment will make your company Overt; that may make the auto-attacks at Minas Tirith, etc. too tough to handle.  Is there a separate party that gets Regiment and runs back to Isengard?

Thank you for the advise.

Since I do not have a lot of opportunity to score an ally it will have to be the regiment. I definitly do not want to be overt and face both of the automatic attacks so it will be a bit tricky.
Lindion the oronin is also in the same region but I think I cannot play a secret book as minor item at a hero site.

The third spirit ring will be worth one point, but I think I will be very lucky to manage three. I'll be satisfied if I manage two spirit rings and two magic rings.

Noble Steed is an option for an ally in Rohan perhaps.

The Noble Steed is not an option because I have to use minion sites for border, free and havens.

I tried the deck in a small tournament but it was a bit too complicated to work well. Too easy to disrupt.

How about using Here, there or yonder for the ally?
