For those just getting started with the Badbeards, Alatar is easily the most fun of the bunch. Why? Because he kills things. He kills friggin everything. Here's one deck that shows how:

Starting Company

Gloin with Squire of the Hunt
Gulla with Cram
Faramir with Wizard's Myrmidon and Foul-Smelling Paste
Eowyn

Dorelas

Characters in Deck

3 Alatar
1 Fram Framson
1 Beretar
1 Dasakun
1 Ioreth

Resources in Deck

Wormsbane
Orcrist
Glamdring
Durin's Axe

Scorba Roused

Regiment of Black Crows

2 We Have Come to Kill
2 Old Thrush
2 A Friend or Three
2 Crept Along Cleverly
2 Dark Tryst
2 Voices of Malice
2 Risky Blow
2 Bold Thrust
2 Longbottom Leaf

1 Fortress of the Towers
1 Bow of Alatar
1 Join the Hunt
1 Huntsman's Garb
1 Gatherer of Loyalties
1 Great Patron

Hazards can be whatever you like, though I'd recommoned against Doors of Night hazard strats, as you'll be most hurt by these yourself.

Recommonded Sites

Greater Items: Carn Dum (Gulla can cancel the auto-attack because it's his home site, and Nazgul are no worry because Eowyn can smack em) and Mount Gundabad.

Major Items: Mount Gram and Barrow Downs.

Faction/Ally: Zarak Dum.

Sideboard

Tom Bombadil (in case you can't pair the Regiment with Scorba, or for a last ditch attempt with Dorelas/Ioreth)
Mischief in a Mean Way (for Old Forest, or elsewhere)
Wizard's Flame (for Great Hunt)
The Great Hunt.

MP Count:

Ally: 1 (+3 for Tom)
Character: 9
Faction: 4
Item: 14
Kill: ??? (between 1 and 15).

Total: 28 (+3) (+???)

Obviously, a killer Great Hunt is key. Keep in mind, of course, that if you get the Regiment, you'll be overt, which means you can go beat up on any wimpy wizards in the vicinity.
