Complete set of The Wizards

Post by Maurits » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:01 pm

Hello all,

I've a Complete set of The Wizards (limited edition?), rarely used. I started playing MECCG in 1995, but didn't play and collect for long. I kept the cards in binder pages for more the ten years now and I'm thinking about selling these.

I'm not at all experienced in selling cards.
- Where and how can I best offer my series for sale?
- How do I know if I've the limited or unlimited edition?
- What is the market value I can sell it for?

Thanks, greetings Maurits (the Netherlands)

Hello Maurits,

welcome on board.
Why not starting again with ME? Its quite a good game and there are always some guys in you region looking around for new or returning players.

blue border -> unlimited edition
black border -> limited edition

maybe you can find some meccg cards on ebay for a price comparison or look at chris cables trading site

And those are also the places to pick from for offering it, should you decide to part with it after all :(.

Thanks for the answers so far!
I'll look into the different options.

Another question:
Does a full set of The Wizards consists of 1 piece of every different card,
or do some cards need to be multiplied in order to have a complete series?

Thanks,

Maurits

A full set is 1 of each, but full playset means that there is also three of each non-unique cards.

Also note that you only need one of each Site card (3 or so for each Haven) for a playset. I've never seen anyone actually using Region cards, but I'm guessing one of each suffices.

I used to use region cards all the time when the game first came out, and yes one card per region is sufficient for a play set.

If you'd use the region cards according to the official rules for them, you need multiple copies of a card. For the more popular regions used with a deck focusing on a tight area that can easily get up to four copies, as each company moving through region X on a given turn needs a copy of region card X.

There are 52 regions, times 4 makes 208 cards. You'd easily use 6 of them on an average turn. You can imagine the workload / mess involved. Result: ICE made a rule in the tournament policy that says you needn't use them. A play set IMHO needs to include but one copy of each, for collecting purposes.

Ah, you're right.  I'd misremembered.  I was thinking that you played the region cards during the m/h phase and so after each m/h phase you could reuse them.  But you're supposed to play them during the org phase face down for each company's site path.
