hmm. where to get?

Post by Dunnagh » Mon Jan 17, 2005 10:01 am

My problem is:
I only have cards from the Wizards and Dragons and am missing a few that i would like to have (missing nazgul, some characters)... but alas, i dont have anything worth trading for!

I played star trek ccg for a long time and anyone who did so too can surely remember that noone still wanted any premiere or AU cards... and so i guess it is with MECCG...

how then can i get those cards (even UC like wake of war) without constantly buying big lots of cards on ebay just hoping that the right cards are in there? any ideas? anyone who would like to pass away some cards for small money?

PS: sorry i posted it here but i ended up on several sites where cards of this game still were offered for prices where i´d rather could buy a whole display

Hi,

www.gwaihir.net or www.treebeard.com have most singles in stock. Also, the trading site http://www.feinus.com/ccg has quite a number of people who are selling in addition to trading.

Really, though, ebay is your best option if you want to get a lot of cards. Singles are expensive in bulk, and MECCG stuff is selling for much below MSRP on ebay (except balrog).

anyway : thanks:)

But that is exactly the thing: for the bulk you can buy displays and / or eBay lots / collections, then to fill it out you'll either have to work harder, to do trading, or pay more per card, to get specific singles. What else do you expect? :?

I don't think it is that impossible to trade with Wizards and Dragons. Sure, there may be less people interested, but it is simple enough to filter out those that are interested.

the point is: i´ve been collecting STCCG for years. now its gone for over a year (2nd edition sucks) and prices are as low as never. if I could sell my riker for just one euro, i´d do it. But: except for TOP cards of this game nothing can sell for an euro, unless someone tries to finish his collection.
10 for 5 Euro sounds more reasonable here.
therefore i´m not willing to pay the tremendous amount of 5 euro for a card thats been lying around somewhere else just like my riker does here.

and Gwaihir, if it is your shop, well... please dont feel offended by me. it´s just that i am really sick of paying 5 euro or more for trading cards. i´ve done that way back and now these cards are virtually worthless.

I can understand your point of view, but I do think the situation you are describing for Decipher Star Trek is well in the past for MeCCG now. Dragons are still pooring out of every corner, but of the other stuff there doesn't seem to be that much overstock left in the world.

For the highly playable cards of the wizards and especially limited edition, which you picked as an example, a store like mine once again has to "work" to keep at least one in stock, rather than have a stack "lying around somewhere".

But regardless: isn't trading more your route for now? Why buy when you have a good stack of cards to trade? For cards selling for such money there definately is demand; in trading too.

I noticed in some of your other posts that you think MeCCG must be all oldtimers with a full collection, but it really isn't like that. We still see a good number of new players flow in and even more people who bought the odd pack back in the day but never got into it thus far. On top of that there's also a large part of the player base that doesn't collect all that intensely and thus still has many holes to fill.

Ok, perhaps thats different with STCCG, I agree. Noone I know who still played had not at least a nearly full set. Still: i think my CCG are basically over. I´m not going, again (after Magic and STCCG) to spend hundrets of euro (well, a thousand wouldnt be overestimated) on a ccg...

anyway: i found someone who willingly parts himself from his cards for a very low price, so i can only say: choose wisely where to buy:)

Nonetheless... the only card I´m really missing now would be the one ring. i saw one selling on ebay for 25 dollars. would that be ok for that thing?

That depends on whether the card is limited or not. UL versions are available for 10 EUR. Limited versions are more expensive (20-25 Euro).
