Hi all,
I've been thinking about what's been said and put forward in the "Feedback and future direction for UEPs thread" (
here) and together with some helpful advice from other mods and Peter, I've tried to come up with a better method for monitoring, controlling and updating UEPs. The hope is that by doing something like this people will be more familiar with UEPs and less daunted by a continuously evolving and therefore potentially confusing accepted UEP list.
Initial thoughts are that this process would follow a procedure something along the lines of:

At the end of the next month (31st August), the current Accepted UEP list would be finalised and named appropriately. So far the thought among some of the mods is to name it
Accepted UEP List 2005.1.

The Accepted UEP list would then be subject to 3 monthly review/update periods during which tghe list would remain static and no newly accepted UEPs would be officially added. This should allow a sufficient period for people to test, play and familiarise themselves with an established list, but at the same time not leaving the review/update period for too long before addition of any newly accepted UEPs.

Based on this 3 month period, an additional thought is that the time for the next review/update could also be included in the thread title. For example,
Accepted UEP List 2005.1 (to end Dec).

Therefore, if the list first gets finalised at the end of August then the end of December would represent the next Accepted List review point. If no new UEPs had been accepted then no change would be made and the same list would be used for another 3 months.

If there are changes or additional UEPs during this period, then a new accepted list would be created at the review point and named
Accepted UEP list 2005.2 or
Accepted UEP list 2005.2 (end of April). This new 2005.2 list would be separate and distinct from the 2005.1 list, with its own thread on the forum, and contain all previously accepted UEPs. The older list would remain as a reference.
How does this seem as an idea? The hope is it would mean the UEPs would be more trackable and people might say, "Fancy a game using UEP list 2005.1/list 2006.3" or whatever. This should mean people are less likely to be surprised by a recently accepted UEP, which they didn't know about. Depending on their date of acceptance, accepted UEPs could take anywhere up to 3 months to get onto the finalised Accepted list. This should help with familiarity.
Regards
Jamie
