Allies as prisoners

Post by Vastor Peredhil » Mon Jun 30, 2008 8:39 am

Hi all,

so far there is now way to take allies  prisoner, although it is major tolkien feature in the book we all love.

So far there is no way how Gollum can be taken capitve by the Elves of Mirkwood.

I would love to create some cards for this theme, but first I like an optional rule to know how to pull it off

maybe even a way to secure these prisoner cards from Marvels & Voices

Well an ally has enough character feel to make him able to be subject to prisoner cards imo, they can fight and die after all, so why not?

The problem obviously is that if rescued they have no controlling character. I would say, if the hazard host is removed, the ally is just discarded, he goes home or wanders around (like Gollum did after the orc rescued him). That way you get no negative mps, you can play him again, and opponent has still had some effect of targetting the ally, you can capture and marvel yourself even, if you want to play Gollum/Stinker that's really nice - but cooler would be to use my virtual card proposal for Undeeps of Anduin (or Gollum's fate) for that.

in fact, a cool optional rule would be, that if an ally, or in fact a character is taken prisoner, opponent can go to the rescue site, face the rescue attack, and play the ally himself! Dwalin saying: Thanks for rescuing me, at your service and that of your family.

we would have to make an exception for Tom Bombadil though, nobody has ever captured Tom!
