I sent myself a PM and got the same error message, but the PM was delivered anyway.  My guess is that the error has to do with redirecting you to the place you were before submitting the message.

Yeah, same thing happens to me occasionally, but they've always gone through as far as I know.  Happens sometimes when I make normal posts, too.

That has to do with e-mailing (not redirecting). Some PMs and forum posts cause e-mails to be send to people who have subscribed to such. Apparently that doesn't always work well..

I hope Josh (our server admin) has some clues about why. Unfortunately (for Josh's troubleshooting) this seems to be hard to reproduce; it doesn't always happen, does it? Fortunately (for all the rest of us) it seems to happen only occasionally and it seems to be just the e-mail notification that is failing, the PM or post itself still goes through normally - though it does test one's patience :(.
