[Minion resource; vs. minion] Lord of the Hoard

Post by Zarathustra » Fri Sep 16, 2005 1:45 pm

This is an active Akhorahil deck I've used several times in minion vs. minion games.  I suppose it could be used in hero vs. hero, but AkhoraKILL is much better for that.  Well, in any case, these are only the resources, so you can switch it up if you like.

Start:

Lieutenant of Dol Guldur / Orders / Strange Rations
(at DG)
Ugluk
Nain
Dorelas
(at MM)

In Deck:

3 Akhorahil
1 Baduila
1 Ill Favored Fellow (under Ugluk)
1 Golodhros (protection)
1 Orc Captain (under Lt)

Resources:

3 Akhorahil Unleashed
3 Sojourn in Shadows
3 Deeper Shadow
2 Tormented Earth
1 Words of Menace and Deceit

3 Forced March
3 Heralded Lord

3 Voices of Malice
2 Weigh All Things to a Nicety
3 Dark Tryst

1 Ice-Orcs
1 Smaug Roused

1 Aiglos

1 Great Bats

Hazards:

I'd suggest corruption, since you should have 2 Malady Without Healing in your sideboard....

Sideboard:

2 Malady Without Healing
1 Aggy Roused
1 Itangast Roused
1 Scatha Roused
1 Petty Dwarves / 1 Woses of the Eryn Vorn (if you expect to see Red Hills)
1 Well Preserved
2 Tribute Garnered
1 Words of Menace and Deceit
1 Long Grievous Siege
1 govern the Storms
1 Poisonous Despair

Play Tips:

Have the MM guys do the Mordor Merry Go Round at Barad Dur, Mt Doom, and Cirith Gorgor.  That will get Akhor 6 cards per turn once he starts running around.  Basically, they just eat up Rivers as your opponent tries to stop you from getting Tech items.  The only thing they really do is draw, play 1 Great Bats (at nurniag camp), and sing with the Voices of Malice.  The Lieuy can easily walk through the detainment attack at the Sulfur Deeps to get Aiglos.  Meanwhil, Akhor just keeps bouncing off Dol Guldur and playing big factions.  When I've played it, the deck is about 80% win rate, which is not my best, but certainly isnt bad.

MP Breakdown:

Character: 10
Item: 3
Ally: 1
Faction: 13-19
Misc: 0-3
Total: 27-36

Mark had a similiar starting company in the beginning, but found the extra handsize didn't help as much as drawing and getting lots of cards.

Exactly.  Especially since Akhor recycles his magic when he uses it, you really need to draw fast to keep pace with your opponent.
