[hazards; vs hero] Slowdown Hero - any good?

Post by Tegarend » Thu Jun 10, 2004 5:10 pm

For GCCG use only, as long as I miss most of these cards :)

For use vs hero.

1x Adunaphel
2x Beorning skin-Changers
3x Chill Them With Fear
1x Daelomin At Home
3x Elflord Revealed in Wrath
2x Foolish Words
2x Galadhrim
1x Master of the House
1x Mouth of Sauron
1x My Precious
1x Power Build By Waiting
2x Returned Beyond All Hope
3x River
2x Twilight
3x Wandering Eldar
1x Uvatha the Horseman
1x Anarin

(In sideboard Knights of the Prince, more region-specific dunedain/elves, RDTTS, corruption etc ...)

PROs :
Not giving away any kill points while (seriously) irritating and slowing down decks.
Protection against dunk decks in The Precious (got rid of the one during an attack at Mt Doom this afternoon :D)

CONs :
Not enough agents. Couldn't get Surion & the Woodland Realm elf in here.
Nothing to get to sideboard. No place for Outposts :?

I probably better kick away some of the elf cards (and Elrond) for some more agents and that disgusting agent card that allows them to legally come in play at several more sites.

Thoughts?

:arrow: Toss the Galadrim for Dwarven Travelers;
:arrow: Toss the Returned Beyond All Hope for Outposts;
:arrow: Put one Elflord in the sb and replace him with an agent;
:arrow: Toss the Foolish Words for a couple agents.

Should be good :D

:arrow: Enchanted Stream after you have tapped your opponent's rangers. Maybe a few more (chillable) agents.

Try to squeeze a copy of To Get You Away in there. It may not work every game, but when it does... :D

Oh, and I can't help recalling one of my nastiest actions ever that I pulled off with a deck like this...

Jeroen Ouwehand was playing the haven squatter with Galadriel playing Hour of Need etc. Well, she was captured by Anarin and locked up at Moria, but in his last turn, Pallando the White Wizard with Wizard's Ring (9/11) decided to play Old Road in Rivendell. I was prepared however with a 3@7/8 + roll Nimloth that I had parked there, and she wounded and killed Pallando (as well as wiping out Ioreth and wounding Cirdan).

Sometimes you roll a 12 when all you really need is a 4 or more to enter the Barrow-downs, but sometimes it is really a great moment...

(well, I must admit that Jeroen was not too happy with the proceedings :? )

can you explain, why a wizard is wounded in a haven?

i thought all attacks in a haven are detainment! and also an attack from an agent is only possible in the site-phase. i don´t think that jeroen play old road  there??

CRF-Errata (Rules)
Attacks keyed to Darkhavens are considered detainment. [effective 11/17/97]
CRF-Rulings by Term-Agents
Agent attacks are not keyed to anything.
Anarin
Unique. Agent. Agent only: may move to a Haven [H] and may tap at a company's new site to attack that company during opponent's movement/hazard phase.  ...out of the thicket of young trees an Elf stepped, clad in grey, but with his hood thrown back; his hair glinted like gold in the morning sun.-LotRII  Home Site: Moria
We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.

Konrad, just a nitpick here :P . Leuber used Anarin to capture Galadriel in Lorien, but Nimloth in Rivendell against the Wiz & co., and Nimloth can't attack in mov/haz like Anarin. I guess that's where "Old Road" come into play?

i know this crf but i interpreted it false - i thought darkhaven means all other haven too. :lol:

agents also clear but i play old road normally not  in sitephase because you can draw more cards. lucky lord...
