Post by Valarauko » Wed Aug 11, 2004 5:40 pm

Characterpool:
Bûthrakaur*
Bolg*
Durthak*
Umagaur
Azog
Shagrat
Mauhúr
Troll-chief 2x
Radbug

Characters in deck: (if you use proposal-rule)
3 Hill Troll

Starting Minors:
Gangways over the Fire
Orders from the Great Demon

Resources:

3 Flame of Udun
3 Ill Report You
2 Threats
3 Voices of Malice
3 We Have Come to Kill
3 Dark Tryst
Angband Revisited
3 Descent Trough Fire
3 Black Mace
High Helm
2 Smoke on the Wind
Ice-orcs
Great Lord of Goblin-gate
Stinker

Sideboard:
2 Orc Veteran
2 Crook-legged Orc
2 People Diminished vs hero
2 Tempest of Fire
2 No Better Use
Sack over the Head vs hero
Great Shadow (useless if you use proposal-rule)
Ancient Black Axe
Orcs of Moria
Orcs of Gundabad
Weigh All Things to a Nicety

A pretty straight forward deck.
Elf-lords and Maias can be fatal when they are played in the first turns, but once a mace is retrieved and characters are reported and descended, Elf-lords will only be revealed in fear.
I usually get the maces in Hero Havens and Blue Dwarf-hold, the helm could be played in Bag End. After the first cycle its time to punnish your opponent by capturing his main characters and torching his factions. Dont forget to include Prone to Violence vs minions.
...unwise to presume the death of Durin's Bane, for Gandalf only saw him fall, not die...

Why do you call it a haven squatting deck? Looks like you're travelling all over the place to rather nasty sites....

I'm just kidding; In fact I've never build or played a squatter-deck.
The cheezy guy looking for a haven-squatter will be disappointed when he finds out wich havens are to be "squatted" with this deck!

3 Descent through Fire? where do you play the third one? do you wait until your deck cycles once?
And you don´t have any prowess modifiers except I´ll report you and the greater items? You´re braver than me!!!

I believe the idea behind having 3 Descents in the deck is not so that all can be played, but merely to help draw one as soon as possible.

I'll Report You is a great card, especially when three are in the same company. That's basically a Bold Thrust for everyone at all times. Still, if you're planning to torch the hero havens (why???), you might need a bit more. Blue Mountain Dwarf-Hold and Bag End are much better ideas, though even they are nasssssty.

You´re right about the I´ll report you, I also play them in my balrog deck. I usually play three of them now that I play with a company of 3 orc leaders. I also add in a few short event modifiers now that I like to play to torchure all the hero havens and hero faction sites and because I basically always fight vs. hero companies. You can´t let those little hobbits survive!!
